Following separation, it can be challenging to navigate raising your children together. Many decisions need to be made surrounding living arrangements, schedules, decision-making for children and financial support.

Where there have been allegations that your child’s safety or wellbeing is at risk, the Ministry of Children and Family Development or delegated Aboriginal agency, must investigate. The Ministry has broad powers and can act in various ways where there are safety issues at play. If they believe there is a concern, they may remove your child from your home. If you are contacted by the Ministry, you should contact a lawyer as soon as possible to obtain legal advice.

Sometimes a child is unjustly removed based on false allegations or inaccurate facts. At RKC Law we act on behalf of parents,  grandparents, family members or other legal guardians, who have had a child removed from their home.

Requiring a document to be ‘notarized’ or ‘commissioned’ means that either a signature is being witnessed, a document is being sworn or affirmed to contain the truth, or a copy is being certified as a true copy of the original.
